I have just switched on "Raise window on Update" and this does make a Marked window come to the front - but a second later then the window is moved to the background again.
This is consistent and happens again and again on every update to the Markdown file. - Very annoying! It makes the "Raise window on Update" feature useless.
I am sure in the distant(?) past the feature had worked...

The window only falls back behind the active application, but stays above any othe apps' windows. If it were to remain in front of the application you're currently editing in, it could easily obscure the editor window. It doesn't even fall behind other windows of the same app, only behind the active window. This feaure is working as intended.
Could you provide a video showing what you're seeing and how it's not meeting your expectations?
