Export to PDF issues after 26.2 Update

Viewed 29

Has anyone noticed issues when exporting to PDF after the 26.2 update? I feel like this has happened before when WebKit gets updates.

Issue: entire page looks shrunk on export

I have checked:

  • exported to HTML, opened in Brave, saved as PDF, and it looked fine
  • no changes in my CSS or settings since OS update
  • custom size/font for export in Marked settings is "unchecked" (and has been)

Thoughts?

Now that you mention it …

I observed that upon exporting a document as PDF (Paginated), the result looks differently, depending on the width of the Marked window it originated from. When the originating window was really wide, text to the left and right gets cut off. See PDF: md-fixup_mini_test_pdf_export.pdf
When I slim down the Marked window to a reasonable or narrow width, the result looks much better: md-fixup_mini_test_pdf_export_slim.pdf

To clarify, is adjusting the width of the Marked window supposed to change the font size of the PDF export? I hadn't noticed that behavior before.

No, the dimensions and text width of the Preview should be overridden by the PDF export, for the most part. But if something in the stylesheet is causing text to be wider than the container, then the print system may shrink the page to fit the text. Sounds like a bug.

I was going to say that I hadn't seen any issues, but yes, I have seen that if the page width is too wide, the text appears to shrink. Try setting a maximum preview width in settings and see if you get more predictable results. Let me know.

@Immo - thank you! That is the issue I could not figure out! I can confirm that varying the width of the Marked window adjusts the font size and width of the PDF export. I played with the settings in "limit text width in Preview," but it made no difference in the export. I don't remember the size of the Marked preview window ever changing the PDF export before. Unless I am seriously overlooking something?

That's bizarre. Just to clarify, we're talking about Paginated PDF, or Continuous PDF?
