RTF to Markdown
What I'd really like to have is an RTF editor that converts to markdown. With this approach, one could write minimally formatted documents while avoiding having to learn markdown tags. Also, since some services use an extended markdown (e.g., Leanpub), it would be nice to refer to a customised markdown stylesheet that included additional markdown tags.

I found that you can drag an RTF or DOC or DOCX file to Ulysses app and it will convert it to plain text with the markdown syntax.
It works pretty well with the basic markdown tags. No tables of course.
Also I think that 1Writer app might have that capability. However Ulysses allows publishing with its own style sheets to RTF and DOCX and PDF as well.
