Mac App Store for 2.0?
Hello, I purchased Marked in April this year from the App Store. Will App Store purchases see an update? Or must they now buy a new copy of v2 via marked2's website? Many thanks, and congratulations on your accomplishment.

Marked 2 is only available from the website, and if it does go to the App Store it will be as a new application. The App Store version of Marked will continue to be fully supported and receive bugfixes as needed, but no new features.
Thanks,
Brett

What does it mean: "... and if it does go to the App Store it will be as a new application.", as Marked3? Or would be both actual versions (Web and MAS) the same? What is your plan?
Thanks

It just means that it won't be an update to Marked, but will be Marked 2 on the App Store as well. Web and MAS versions will be close but probably not identical because of App Store limitations.

I heared about such kind of other projects. But the question is always, which version will be the better one? What is your time plan for Marked2 in the MAS?

I hope I will see soon Marked 2 on the apple's app store...
Will you allow users to get it at a special price (just like Ulysses III and Hype 2) for a limited time?
Thank you.

Hello Brett,
I have one question about continuing Marked "to be fully supported and receive bugfixes as needed, but no new features": Bugfixes and no new features is easy to understand, but what about updates to, say, the latest version of MultiMarkdown?
As you know MMD is continually under development (Fletcher is doing a really great job!) and Marked does not display new MMD features like inline footnotes anymore. Will you update the MMD parser of Marked or does only Marked 2 offer compatibility to the latest version of MMD?
Thanks in advance, and thanks for the great app in general!

That would be considered new features by the App Store review team, I'm
pretty sure. I'll check on it, though. Basically, Marked 1.4 is not
sandboxed, and is prohibited from anything but simple fixes to existing
functionality.
Marked 2 will be making its way to the App Store over the next month or
two, and Marked 1 will be removed at that point. Just FYI.

You can, however, just set up a local copy of MMD as a custom
processor...

Not very happy about the fact a version 2 existed, and the fact this wasn't indicated in the app store, on the Marked page. Bought Marked just a week ago - have not even had a chance to use it - and here I learn there is more current version. You can call it a separate app, but really, its totally disingenuous.

I'm sorry about your experience, but the fact is that I can't advertise
it on the App Store. Version 1 is supported, and I offer a discount
coupon to users of 1.4 who wish to upgrade that covers the cost of the
App Store version.
Disingenuous implies that I'm somehow lying or concealing something. I'm
not sure how you arrived at that conclusion, but I've done my best to
publicize Marked 2 despite not currently being able to mention it on the
Marked landing page on the App Store. I have no reason to prefer that
people purchase 1.4 over version 2, and no way to offer paid updates.

Hello Brett,
how will the MAS version of Marked 2 differ from the non-MAS store version?
Right now with the non-sandboxed Marked (1) it is completely hassle free to open a md file that includes images.
But I know from other apps like MultiMarkdown Composer or Byword (which both are sandboxed already) that you have to allow these apps access to included images for every single document. Which is extremely annoying. I mean, think about Safari would have to ask allowance for every web page that includes an image!
So will the MAS version of Marked 2 show the same behaviour or did you find a way to allow it once and for all access to included elements?
And are there other extra features one version has over the other?

The goal is feature parity, but permissions will still be required to
open documents outside of the directory of the current document. I may
have to drop a couple of features such as VoodooPad support for the App
Store, but I'm working to find ways to make it possible.

In the launch post you mention that you're looking into having version 2 in the app store.
1- Do you have any update on this front? You mention sandboxing issue.
2- If I buy it from paddle, and you make it available on the app store as well, will I be able to get the app store version for free?
Thanks!

Close, and no, there's no crossgrade path.

Do you have an ETA yet? I'd need it now but would love to use the app store, and if there's not crossgrade path...

I don't. I'm working on it every day, but there are a lot of issues.
