I created a file by copying and pasting text. I saved the file as .md and when I tried to open it with Marked it was blank. I pasted text into Vim and IA Writer and saved both as a .md file. In IA writer and I typed random text, saved to a .md file. Marked was able to see that file.

Where did you paste from? Was the file you saved plain text?

I copied that first bullet list. I saved it with extension .md. According to IA Writer's window it is saved with Unicode UTF-8. Linebreak code: LF (Unix)

Under Marked>Preferences>Behavior, the only box that is checked is jquery extras.

When you copy from a browser, you're copying rich text. If you don't specifically save it as plain text, you're not creating a file Marked can read. The other apps you're saving from create plain text files that Marked can read.

If you want to clip directly from the web, you'll want to use a Markdownifier like Marky: http://markdownrules.com
