Dear,
I have problem with rendering bigger text-file (=a book). The size is over 540k chars. Is any chance it could work without splitting the file?

Thanks a lot

The filesize is 540k? Marked should be able to open that. Is there any chance you'd be willing to share the file (privately) with me so I can test? That would be the easiest way to figure out what's going on.

If you can share it, start a private conversation and upload it as an attachment. If not, let me know and we'll try remote debugging.

Ok, so I took a look at your file and it's actually over 600k. I have Marked set to cut off at about 550k right now. What I'm going to do for the next version is tell it that certain file extensions can override the cap (md, mdown, mkdn, mmd, multimarkdown, markdown, txt, etc.). Performance will definitely suffer on larger files, but the reason for the cap is more to prevent Marked from trying to open non-text files.

It's a consequence of the fact that text files have no predictable identifier, so to open any extension I had to literally tell Marked to open *anything*, then try to figure out what it was on the way.

I'll have the next version ready for submission this week, and Apple's been taking about three days to approve them, if all goes well. That would mean a fix early next week. Hope that works for you.

Dear Brett, I understand. Great! Thanks.

Idea: have you ever considered a possibility of "semantic navigation pane" (simply TOC) based on # tags? It would be absolutely perfect navigational feature (going neccessary when over 50k chars) but not only for larger files. And it could even help chop the file to smaller parts in some way (if user chooses option "view by chapters") and improve the performance? (I know, it depends on implementation).

Thank you very much for your time
    Tomáš

Hover over the upper right edge on a document that has section headlines :).

This is so great! You made my day. You have teleported the feature to my Mac without reinstall! :)

(but: isnt it a bit hidden…? that is a pity..)

    Thanks a lot
    Have a nice weekend

Yes, I keep forgetting to add it to the initial documentation. It's only mentioned in the FAQ right now. Will fix that soon :).
