You can force background colors with CSS as long as "Print background
colors and images" is enabled in Export preferences, but it's really not
very useful. Page margins will always be white, and if you set all
margins to zero you have to manually add padding to the document or the
text hits the edges. Even then, the headers and footers, even when
empty, will cause a white top/bottom border on the page, so it ends up
uglier than just printing white. Thus, the option is not really
supported.

Thanks for the response, though that is a bit disappointing.

I hope you will at some point step back and ask your users how/why they use Marked2.

In my case, I use it as an auxiliary to other markdown processors such as Ulysses, DevonThink, and Draftin. The reason I invested in Marked2 on top of those others is so that I could create better-looking layouts with more flexibility and control.

Given that's the reason for the investment, having such a major feature as WSYIWYG from page to PDF be "unsupported" and not really working, makes the only reason for me to use Marked boil down to support for tables (which Ulysses doesn't).

Kind of a bummer. I hope you will reconsider at some point.
