File transclusion
Hi,
File transclusion, I find, is a great tool. But standards vary. Ai Writer, to give an example, prefers /filtobetranscluded.txt, while Marked2 works with {{filetobetranscluded.txt}}. On top of this it seems that transclusion is not widely implemented yet.
Do you have view on this? Emailing the guys at Ai about this, the answer was that they wish to stick to their solution.
This makes it difficult to work with the files in different editors and programs – which is otherwise an advantage of working in markdown. And working with a relatively large number of files it is difficult to migrate from one standard to another.
One possible solution is to be inclusive, e.g. to let Marked2 accept all suggested codes.
Do you have a view on this and an impression of what standards may become common?
All the best,
Christian

Hi Christian,
iA Writer has annoyed me enough over the years that I haven't
prioritized including their syntax, though I do intend to. Marked
already supports its own syntax, as well as LeanPub, mmd_merge, and
MultiMarkdown. I don't know that there are many other formats yet, but
everyone seems to want to make a new one and I currently have no idea
what kind of standard/preference will arise.

Hi Brett,
Thank you. Ironic how beautifully simple solutions become complex. Great that you plan to include various standards in Marked2 (annoying when standards are used to exclude). I enjoy the combo of NValt and Marked2 and also often need a third editor to navigate several files and writing projects at once. But several markdown editors, it seems, do not yet support file transclusion.
