Is there a way to have different Markdown that generates bullets (e.g. *, +, -, etc.) mark the bullets with a class or other attribute so that CSS can apply different styles to each?

No (Markdown is not designed for that kind of advanced handling, and it
would be difficult even with a custom processor), but you can add CSS to
    different levels of a list.
