Header variable for current chapter?

Just wondering if anyone knows of a way to display whatever the value of the "current" H1 tag is in the header of exported documents? Even if it means doing it manually somehow. Can't seem to find a way to have "dynamic" variables other than the page number.

    No, this can't be determined at print time. I can access page
    measurement data, but not the content I would need to parse the most
    recent headline value.
