# CriticMarkup Test
This is a{-- new --} test{++ of CriticMarkup ++}.

Dominiquetag:support.markedapp.com,2011-09-11:Comment/342769312014-08-26T14:46:47Z2014-08-26T14:46:47ZCriticMarkup not working?

Any chance you're on Yosemite?

Bretttag:support.markedapp.com,2011-09-11:Comment/342769312014-08-26T14:52:34Z2014-08-26T14:52:37ZCriticMarkup not working?

Hm. I'm on 10.8.5. Don't know what's going on. I'm using Vim and
the trick mentioned
here to render with Marked. Does file encoding have any
importance? I'm using UTF-8.

Dominiquetag:support.markedapp.com,2011-09-11:Comment/342769312014-08-26T14:54:58Z2014-08-26T14:54:58ZCriticMarkup not working?

UTF-8 should be fine. 10.8 might be a different story as I don't
have a
10.8 machine to test on. Try opening Console.app and seeing if
there are
any errors posted at the time you open a file containing
CriticMarkup.

Thanks,
Brett

Bretttag:support.markedapp.com,2011-09-11:Comment/342769312014-08-26T14:58:50Z2014-08-26T14:58:50ZCriticMarkup not working?

Alas, no error message. Should I be able to get it to work with
the CriticMarkup bundle if I set up a custom (pre)processor in
Marked?

Dominiquetag:support.markedapp.com,2011-09-11:Comment/342769312014-08-26T15:05:51Z2014-08-26T15:05:51ZCriticMarkup not working?

To some extent, but Marked uses a custom version to render it.
Have you
done anything unusual to your Python installation at all?

Bretttag:support.markedapp.com,2011-09-11:Comment/342769312014-08-26T15:31:50Z2014-08-26T15:31:51ZCriticMarkup not working?

I have Homebrew Python 2.7.8. The
markdown
and

markdown2
modules are there. They're working because
running CriticMarkup on the command line produces a correct HTML
file (with the critic markup rendered). I don't think there's
anything unusual about my Python install.

I tried again using custom pre-processor and processor (as
supplied with CriticMarkup), but no luck there either. You might
want to change the title of this discussion to refer to 10.8
explicitly.

Dominiquetag:support.markedapp.com,2011-09-11:Comment/342769312014-08-28T15:34:35Z2014-08-28T15:34:35ZCriticMarkup not working?

The thing is that Marked runs in a protected shell, so your
usual
PYTHON_PATH and other variables aren't loaded at the time of
execution.
It's quite likely that something is going wrong in that area.

You should be able to see runtime errors in Console while
loading a file
containing CriticMarkup in Marked. Check and see that it's not
complaining about missing interpreters or anything.

Bretttag:support.markedapp.com,2011-09-11:Comment/342769312014-08-28T15:58:09Z2014-08-28T15:58:10ZCriticMarkup not working?

There are no messages whatsoever in Console about Marked.
CriticMarkup is rendered correctly if I use MMD or the CtiticMarkup
bundle directly (not via Marked) and preview in the browser.

So Marked is using system Python? I was wondering if there could
be a conflict if another Python appears first on the

PATH
, but after unlinking my Homebrew Python, I still
get the same result: CriticMarkup isn't processed. I'll give it a
go on 10.9 when I get a chance.

Dominiquetag:support.markedapp.com,2011-09-11:Comment/342769312015-02-20T21:21:08Z2015-02-20T21:21:10ZCriticMarkup not working?

I'm on yosemite, Critic Markup rendering (red/green edits) is

working fine here, so we'll have to do some digging.

Okay, so I obviously had trouble reading the font in the Critic
Markup
video. I that replacement was {~~old -> new ~~} instead of
{~~old ~> new
~~}

I also confirmed addition and subtraction worked. They didn't
seem to the
other day, but based on my error with substitution I wouldn't trust
I was
doing it correctly.

Austin Gilberttag:support.markedapp.com,2011-09-11:Comment/342769312015-02-21T21:28:08Z2015-02-21T21:28:08ZCriticMarkup not working?

Glad it's working! If you intend to make consistent use of
CriticMarkup,
I recommend using any of the tools available. The System Services
are a
good, free utility, but MultiMarkdown Composer has a "Track
Changes"
mode that works like Microsoft Word and automatically inserts the
syntax
as you make changes, inserts, and edits. Keeps you from having to
even
think about the syntax: <a href=

I also made some PopClip tools for it, if you're a PopClip
user:
<a href=
