Try using 2-4 space or a tab before the indented list items.
Marked uses MultiMarkdown, which doesn't conform exactly to
standard Markdown list conventions. Using multiple spaces is,
however, backwards-compatible with Markdown, so doing so will not
cause problems in other processors.

Thanks,

I had tried a few variations, such as two spaces, or aligning
with the text above, but nothing seemed to work.

Doing more experimentation, I find that it indents as a sub-list
if there are 4, 5, 6, or 7 spaces on the line before the bullet
('*'). Use 8 spaces, and it's no longer even recognized as a
list.
