Among other issues, that HTML document that Word created:

    1. Is full of invalid non-breaking space characters
    2. Contains invalid comment tags within a style tag
    3. Uses a lot of proprietary tags
    4. Is a full document with a head and body, which you're now inserting into another body tag in an already complete document.

If you load this HTML file directly, you'll be fine, but including it in a Markdown document is going to trigger parsing of that file in a way that's bound to be problematic.
