It's not a paid upgrade, and I can verify that it's available in the App Store and should be showing up in your Updates. If check for updates does nothing, you can always download from marked2app.com. The original post is about MAS, for which there's no other way to update other than via the App Store.</p>

So I guess my upgrade desire is solved, but I'm still slightly mystified as to why I couldn't upgrade to v2.5.12 previously.</p>
