I apologize for the crashes. There's a bug in build 910 causing this for
some users that I'm working to correct right now. In the meantime, you
can downgrade to version 909 by downloading from this link:

    http://abyss.designheresy.com/marked/Marked2.5.2909.zip

I would be curious to know if you could check one thing before
    downgrading:

Does going into Preferences->Advanced and unchecking "Analyze
readability statistics" in the bottom section change the issue at all
    for you?

    Thanks,
    Brett

    Dear Brett,

thank you so much for your answer. I tried it, but, no... unfortunately there is no change by unchecking the item you mentioned: Marked 2 keeps crashing. Al the best

    Andrea

PS. I wanted to make clear that, apart from this (temporary) problem, Marked 2 is a wonderful app, IMO!

Thanks for checking. Does the version I linked temporarily solve the issue for you?

    Thanks,

    Brett

    Hi Brett,
and thanks again for this. Yesterday I worked perhaps half an hour with the linked version and I had no crashes. Unfortunately, today I had to do a lot of work with Word (I hate this! But all my colleagues stick to such an awful piece of software!!!) and I had no time for my Markdown projects. I’ll try again tomorrow (hopefully) and will let you know.
    Thanks again
    Andrea

    Dear Brett,

this is just to confirm that, after working quite intensively with Marked 2 ver. 909 I had no problems or crashes of any sort. I promised to check this out and I am sorry for this late response… Hope this is useful, anyhow. All the best

    Andrea

    Hi
I just upgraded when I opened Marked 2 for the first time in a while. It would crash alot, I tried deleting, reinstalling and rebooting etc. Then I came here and tried the above in preferences and it still crashed.

I've downgraded using the file above and seems fine.

I have a debug build available if everyone on this thread would be willing to test:

    Download here

You can run this from anywhere, no need to overwrite your current working version. If you get a crash, please locate the crash report in Utilities/Console.app and attach it to a reply.

I believe this may fix the crashing issue, but as I've been unable to replicate it locally on any OS version, it's impossible for me to be certain. Please let me know either way.

    Hi Brett,

I just ran it and it crashed on opening 3rd MD file, which is what
happened earlier (well it crashed on 1st or second or sometime 4th).
    Here's is what I did:
I deleted the app from Applications dir then emptied trash
Moved the debug version to Applications dir.
Opened a few MD files (docs from here on local HDD
    https://github.com/geerlingguy/drupal-vm/tree/master/docs)

I'll attach all the crash logs but the one from this latest build is
the newest two in the archive.

Hope this is helpful and you track down the bug. I'm going to be here
for an hour or so if you want me to try some things.

    Regards
    Steve

Ok, your crash reports show that it's happening during a simple call to add commas to the word count. I've adjusted a few things to try and narrow this down, so here's a new build.

    Download 2.5.3 912

    HI Brett,

Here's some more logs. Again it crashed on the 3rd opening, then
wouldn't restart, then worked with about ten files before I closed
them and shut it down, then it crashed on the 3rd file.

I suppose I ought to try and open exact same files in same order for
    consistency next time.

Ok, it's the same crash still. Just to verify that the bug report is telling me what I think it is, here's one more build with that function completely removed.

    Hi Brett,

That crashed on 4th file, how ever the link to build showed the same
    number as the previous build.
    Marked2debug2.5.3912.zip

    Was that correct?

Yes, I didn't bump the build number on that one. I'll check the crash reports when I'm back to my machine. Thanks much for the continued help.

    Thanks,

    Brett

Ok, I'm realizing that both crashes have to do with locale specifiers. Can people reporting the crash let me know what region they're in (or what language the system is set to use)?

I think I found it. Errant release of memory after changing the code to support en_GB settings. New build

Hi Brett. Yes I would be using en_GB
based in UK so British English date formats etc

Will try the release out later when at Mac

    Thanks

    Hi Brett,

I've performed a simple test of opening every MD file in that download
from GitHub (about 22 files) and it hasn't crashed. Closed all files
shut down app and repeated again no problem.

    Thanks
    Steve

That is insanely good news. Could I trouble you to run one more test
build with the number formatting restored?

    [Download test build 914](http://ckyp.us/1kPFH)

If this is successful, I can get a new release out today and finally
submit a new version to the app store with confidence.

Repeated same tests again and still fine.
